Shoes for Summer

I have noticed a massive hole in my shoe collection lately, mainly in the form of closed toe shoes I can actually walk a fair distance in! Lots of killer block heels from A/W10 and strewn about, but summer is looking tragically sad, thus shoe love is required. Personally I adore unexpected detailing on a shoe say in the form of edgy colours or a modern bow. Here are a couple of pairs I spied in Lannndan town that need to be added to my collection, especially now the sales are on...

First up, the ubiquitous Pierre Hardy for Gap heels in Easter egg inspired hues. Aren't they too cool? The pointy toe is devastating. Adore. Them.

Another pair I really like are these studded toe slingback kitten heels from Kurt Geiger. I'm actually not crazy about the colour at all (doesn't fleshy pink look cheap on me?) But love the old-school eighties shape and modern stud details. Shame Kurt Geiger didn't release the toffee/black combo they had in their SS11 preview. Think I'll get the black version.

Fashion Week love means shoe love

New York Fashion Week has taken over my life, I have been staying up all hours of the night to check out the latest Proenza Schouler African-esque prints and Michael Kors' major luxe 30 year anniversary show. Obviousl being a footwear freak I also took note of what NY had to offer for my abused tootsies. Here are some faves:

Peter Som brightens up the ankle boot

Proenza Schouler do accessories like no other. These are seriously sick. Alaia eat your heart out.

Love how Alexander Wang isn't afraid to add a touch of fun in to his tough aesthetic. Fur shoes in the winter?! Crazy!

Wonder Fashion Woman

Shoes Lynda Carter would be proud of ...

I went out today innocently expecting nothing out of the ordinary, but came home with the potential to look and feel like a contemporary version of Wonderwoman. It may have been the influence of the latest make-up collection from MAC, it could be thanks to the SS11 trends, but my latest buys are statement and I am feeling them. The jumpsuit is perfect for spring, relaxed yet a little utilitarian and the shoes are my personal ode to the ridulous colour palette at the Prada show. So hot. I may don my new outfit this weekend in a quest to meet Wonderman. Tinie Tempah, I wouldn't say no.

Fool Hardy

Ok, so there are a few things I am looking forward to this Autumn/Winter. The Lanvin H&M launch, finally getting my hands on the M&S leather dirndl when its released in NOVEMBER (I'm on a major countdown) and obviously I was pretty excited about the ubiquitous Pierre Hardy for Gap shoes. So on thursday night after the Vanessa Bruno London store launch, I popped in to Gap to have a look at the shoes which I thought were a lust-have, but I'm not so sure anymore. Don't get me wrong there were lots of things I loved about them the fact they're 4" and easy to walk in is a major plus (oh the joy of wedge heels!) but I think they looked a bit blocky and made my legs look depressing unimpressive considering the major wedge. Oh well I'll have to wait till summer to see what else Mr Hardy/Gap has on offer...

Flat footed in Paris

Oooh next summer could actually be a comfortable one, well at least according to some of Paris's most influential designers. I have already raved about Lanvin, but what I loved the most about the collection was its easy luxe and comfort without the loss of femininity or sexuality. The same can definitely be said of the recent Hannah MacGibbon, Chloe show and its the shoes that have SS11 grounded. From flat ballet shapes to architectural sandals flat to the ground there's an air of, do what you like this summer and relax.

So it may be the end of fashion month but a mountain of wow-moments are still emerging from under the radar. Valentino left a huge black hole when he retired in 2007 and it seemed whoever replaced him was bound to face some discouraging criticism. For SS10 creative directors Maria Grazia Chiuri and Paolo Piccioli seemed to reverse the curse and really showed their flair for shoes, (to fair they were accessory designers)! The stunning shoe styles were the jewel in the Valentino collection's crown. The collabo between Valentino and milliner Phillip Treacy was a very smart move, even urban-fashionista Alexander Wang was swooning at all the feathers, lace and stiletto heels. Perfect for the avant-garde bride and so much better than a white satin court. Don't you think?
